ROCHESTER - Rogers A. Ward, 87, of Rochester, passed away on Friday June 20, 2014 at the Rochester Manor following a period of failing health. 

The son of John and Dorothy Ward, Rogers was born on August 4, 1926 in Pembroke, Maine.

After high school, Rogers enlisted in the Army and served his country during World War II. He retired highly decorated from the Army in 1986 after serving as Captain for 35 years. Rogers also worked as a Welding Engineer for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Rogers was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV. 

Along with his parents, Rogers is predeceased by one son, John Ward; two brothers William Ward, Steve Ward; and his sister Mary Proulx.

Rogers is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ward of Rochester; two sons, Bill Ward and his wife Jan of Barrington, Mark Rodgers and his wife Debbie of Ossipee; four daughters, Holly Goodrow of Rochester, Polly Belt and her husband Steve of New York, Shirley Sterling and her husband Al of East Baldwin, Maine, Diane Brown of Farmington; one brother Thomas Ward and his wife Traute of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
