Sanford man charged in sex assaults of girl, 13

SANFORD - A Sanford man was arrested on Monday in the ongoing sexual assault of a 13 year old girl.

Kyle Matthews, 23, is charged with gross sexual assault and is alleged to have inappropriately touched the young victim and forced the victim to sexually touch him on several occasions in 2013 and 2014.

At the time, Matthews and his spouse lived with her parents in Cornish, and the victim was a family friend who often visited the residence where the assaults allegedly occurred. Matthews is now separated from his spouse.

Matthews is being held at the York County Jail and is not eligible for bail. He is scheduled to appear in Alfred Superior Court today.
