ROCHESTER - After nearly a year serving as the Rochester School District's superintendent Annie Azarloza has been suspended from her job and placed on paid leave over an undisclosed issue.
School administrators and the city's school board have remained tight-lipped pending an investigation.
Azarloza, who was selected from five finalists for the position, was hired last April and assumed her duties in July.
Previously she had worked for the Worcester, Mass., school district where she was chief academic support officer for the second largest school district in New England.
Upon her selection Rochester School Board Chairman Shane Downs said Azarloza was the best person for the job.
"We feel confident that Annie can guide the Rochester Public Schools into the future and look forward to working collaboratively with her for the benefit of all of our students," he said.
On Wednesday he had no comment about her suspension.
