The Rochester Police Department will be holding its fourth annual Citizen's Police Academy starting in March. Citizens who participate will be exposed to the many functions and layers of their police department through presentations by department employees, hands-on training, and ride-a-longs with police officers, all culminated into what drives crime reduction and quality of life issues in Rochester.

The Citizen's Academy class will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. for 11 weeks starting on March 10 and concluding on May 19.

All participants must be 18 or older at the commencement of the academy, or 15 years of age or older if accompanied by a parent or guardian. The class is limited to 20 participants and will be conducted on a first come first served basis, with preference being given to Rochester residents. Applications and Release of Information Authorization forms are available at http://rochesterpd.org. Applications can either be mailed or dropped off at the Rochester Police Department. A signature is required on each application. Participants must pass a brief background check including a criminal record check. The deadline for applications is Feb. 27.
