CONCORD - Just days after former Rochester Mayor Paul Callaghan was elected chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Committee his election was found to be improper and he was removed from office.
It was determined with help from the Republican National Committee that the sitting vice chair of the New Hampshire GOP committee, Scott Maltzie, should automatically become the chair.
Callaghan was elected about two weeks ago to fill the vacancy when former chair Jim MacEachern stepped down from the post.
A state GOP subcommittee determined that Maltzie was required to take over the chairmanship.
Later the New Hampshire Republican Party asserted that members will vote on a new vice chairman likely in February.
During Callaghan's brief tenure as GOP Committee chair he wrote a prolific amount of party releases attacking some of the liberal left-wing policies of Democrats like Chris Pappas and supporting ICE efforts to pick up the "worst of the worst" illegal aliens who commit crimes against Americans.
He also slammed New Hampshire Democrat Party Chairman Ray Buckley urging him to resign after Buckley was caught pushing conspiracy theories about Donald Trump's landslide victory in 2024.
