The mysterious world of tick-borne illness: Could they be weaponized?

To the editor:
Over many decades, hundreds of thousands of people have experienced the physical, debilitating symptoms of Lyme disease. Kris Newby, in her book "Bitten," "reveals the back story behind the bioweaponizing of ticks during the Cold War." Having myself endured 2 to 3 week periods of chronic fatigue, body aches and flu-like symptoms that strangely disappeared after useless doctor visits, their failed magic pills and lab tests showing no problems, I wondered, does anybody believe me? A sign of hope came when a new doctor sent my blood to a California lab. I surprisingly found out there are dozens of tick bone illnesses of which my test revealed antibodies to four: Borrelia, Babesia, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Tick Borne Relapsing Fever.
Enduring such an experience, it's encouraging when you find friends experiencing the same. Finally after a visit to Kinesiologist/Homeopathic Dr. Deutsch in Portland, Maine (recommended by Lyme Support of Group of Manchester, NH) gave me the blessing of good results. Discovering the book "Bitten," it was easy to relate to the sub-title: "The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons." Reading of Ms. Newby's and her husband's experience going to one doctor after another with no relief was not only similar to my journey of frustration, but was also enlightening revealing the cause; I believe emphatically proving that the "U.S. Military has conducted thousands of experiments exploring the the use of ticks producing tick-borne diseases as biological weapons..."
Spending over 250 pages proving her narrative, she concludes: "It's hubris to think we can weaponize living things, and not have them come back to bite us." Filled with scientific terms well over most folks unscientific minds (including mine), she can really write to the average person's level. In her narrative, nonfiction story, her research is based on reports, letters, memoirs, videos, lab notebooks and oral histories of Willy Burgdorfer. In 1981, the Swiss-American tick expert, was the first to identify the corkscrew bacterium that caused the conditions of Lyme. Apparently Mr. Burgdorfer was intimidated by being penalized with jail time so he carefully leaked classified intelligence. Ms. Newby provides damning and horrifying data in the appendix revealing uncontrolled tick releases within the specific durations of time, 1966 thru 1969, with the type of ticks and the total amount of 282,800 released in Montpelier, VA, Newport News, VA, Mill Canyon, MT, and Roaring Lion Canyon, MT. Additionally, there are pictures of five different species of ticks: Eastern Black legged or deer tick, Lone Star Tick, American Dog Tick, Rocky Mountain Wood Tick and European Castor Bean or Sheep Tick, followed by the tick born illness each cause.
Kris Newby has also produced a 2010 Lyme Disease Documentary called "Under Our Skin". Her well-presented facts should make the blood boil of all those who have suffered from tick borne illnesses. Media silence makes it obvious there's a lot to hide. For me, this arouses all kinds of distrust of government. The bottom line is: patriotism does not include cheering the promotion of blood suckers who not only cause unlimited health problems, but suck the lifeblood out of our liberty!
