Three Girl Scout leaders recognized for their contributions to Scouting

DOVER - Three women who together planned an Apple Harvest Day in Dover were presented with the council's New Found Treasure awards at a meeting of their service unit on Jan. 13.

Megan Torr, Erica Ormsby, and Bre Cuddahy are all Girl Scout troop leaders who began their service in the 2018-19 membership year. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains, the council supporting members in New Hampshire and Vermont, honors adult volunteers who are new to Girl Scouting with this recognition of their exemplary volunteer service.

Torr, 34, of Dover, has been a troop leader since the beginning of the 2018-19 Girl Scout year. In that short time, she has brought forth great ideas, plans and action for her community. Torr was quickly recognized by her service unit as one of three leaders who were instrumental in putting together the Apple Harvest Day in Dover.

Dickinson, a new Leader Mentor, said, "These leaders met beforehand in planning meetings, designed decorations and prepared a scavenger hunt for any girls interested. They also solicited posters from other Dover leaders requesting pictures which show all the different activities their troops have been involved in during the past Girl Scout year."

Torr spent the entire day of the event at the booth she helped organize and spoke with interested parents and girls and the general public about Girl Scouting in Dover and what they offer for the girls in their community. Torr is someone that any Girl Scout service unit would love to have, not only to be a troop leader, but to also become involved in community events.

Erica Ormsby

Ormsby, 34, of Somersworth, first began volunteering for the 2018-19 Girl Scout year as a troop leader and has stepped up to also be the Community Product Sales Coordinator for this Girl Scout year in addition to being a helper for another troop.

Volunteer Support Coordinator Megan Cuddy said, "From the beginning, Erica has jumped in feet first, being an active participant at leaders meetings and bringing forward ideas."

Ormsby was also instrumental in preparing and participating in the Apple Harvest Day event in Dover. Dickinson said Ormsby's contribution to the Apple Harvest Day event showed her imagination and dedication.

Community Accounting Coordinator Jennifer Beach said "Erica brings enthusiasm, creativity and passion to the table at every meeting."

Ormsby is giving her all as a troop leader, a Community Product Sales Coordinator and as a troop helper.

Cuddahy, 35, of Rochester, first began volunteering for the 2018-19 Girl Scout year as a troop leader for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors, and also joined the community as the Events Coordinator. She created a reference for the community that allows events to be replicated easily, even without the original planners. Cuddahy was one of three individuals who planned, prepared and participated in the Apple Harvest Day booth in Dover.

Dickinson said "I am proud to count Bre among our new leaders and sister Girl Scouts because of her leadership and dedication."

Beach said "Bre brings creativity, a thoughtful mindset and new ideas to the table. She has participated in all of our community events and attends every monthly meeting."
