HOPKINTON - Three people were seriously injured on Monday after a rollover on Interstate 89.
The crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. on Interstate 89 southbound near mile marker 9.4.
At the scene of the crash, State Troopers found a 2003 Toyota Matrix lying on its side, entangled with a 2017 VW Golf in a wooded area that separates the northbound and southbound lanes. Multiple trees had fallen on the vehicles, complicating rescue efforts.
The three occupants of the Toyota were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. The single occupant of the VW was transported to a hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries as a precaution.
The identities of the drivers are being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
Both lanes of Interstate 89 southbound were closed for a little over an hour while the occupants were extricated, and then one lane was reopened while the crash investigation took place.
All aspects of this crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Tyler Griffin at 603-223-4381 or Tyler.L.Griffin@dos.nh.gov.
