FARMINGTON - A Farmington Police cruiser was struck head-on by a Honda Accord early New Year's day.
The collision occurred a little after midnight on Main Street when the driver of the Accord crossed the center line and struck the police cruiser.
Both the driver of the Accord and the officer were transported to a local hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.
The driver of the Accord is suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the crash, but Farmington Police in a press release sent today did not say the driver had been arrested.
Since the collision involved a Farmington Police officer, the Farmington Police Department has referred the case to the Rochester Police Department and the Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team for the investigation.
Farmington Police said today they were unable to comment on the crash. They also would not comment on precisely where on Main Street the collision occurred.
Rochester Police were not immediately available for comment.
