Veterans Day ceremonies set for Milton, Rochester

Milton will hold its Veterans Day program on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Veteran's Park in the downtown. All are welcome.

Refreshments will be provided by the Milton Women’s Club.  

Meawhile, in Rochester, there will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Rochester Commons. Various components of the Rochester Veterans Council will muster at 10:30 in advance of the ceremony.

 

The service will commence at 11 a.m. with Al Benton acting as the Officer of the Day. Colors will be posted by AMVETS Post 1 and Rochester Veterans Council. During this short ceremony, Robert Crout-Hamel, as chaplain will offer a prayer and Benton will read a proclamation from President Barack Obama. Gordon Oliver will play “Taps.

From noon until 2 p.m., there will be a free meal for all veterans at American Legion Post 7, on Eastern Avenue. Guests will be asked for a $5 donation.

 

 

 

Later there will be a special service at the First United Methodist Church on South Maine Street at 7 p.m.

No special services are planned in Lebanon.
